The Bird Flu (or Avian Influenza) is one of many naturally occurring avian (bird) influenza (flu) viruses. The virus commonly known as “bird flu” has been found in birds (mostly in poultry) in parts of Asia and Europe. The virus has also infected and sickened over 100 people in Asia.
The Bird Flu virus has not yet been detected in Arizona. Because the virus can be carried and transmitted by wild birds, there is a possibility this this new virus will make it to North America or even Arizona during 2006.
